Really tried to push more today after Sunday’s long run, speed is something that I really need to work on this year and I am hoping I can really get used to running at pace. Will be a nice pace on the way home today.
Really pleased with today’s first effort of the long run for the year, having done 9 miles the other week and nothing in between, I really feel that I could done a half marathon (albeit not pretty) distance with my fitness where it is currently I am hoping to build on my speed and pace to help get the goals that I want for this year.
On another note, its great knowing that I didn’t have to do another 10 miles on top, unlike full marathon distance training where your just getting started.
Firework’s, drink and sing song to see in the New Year being completed it’s now time to focus on the New Year and to have a think about what I want to achive this year with my running.
Having failed to meet my targets for running last year and have a real late surge after injury I am pretty pleased where I was towards the end with a 6 week pick me up to get back in shape for a half marathon in October which really did help me focus and proved how much I can get done if I put my mind to it. Now with London seeming a distant memory and injury seeming to be all forgotten I will reintroduce my plans for goals for this year.
5k – Under 20 min, 19 min would be ideal
10k – Low 40 mins
Half – In the 1hr 20 something band.
Not entering any full marathon’s, well that’s the plan so far, this year I am really going to try and focus on the above with the aim on getting to these goals by the end of the year!
